Please note: Are you planning just a brief 1-night stop-over? Well, in our
opinion if staying only 1 night, you miss out badly:
you miss the only destination in Scotland, which was voted onto the world's
top 50 list of the most authentic travel destinations. (read below)
You'll not get bored here: 12 different all-day sightseeing trips by car await you (self-drive)!
Wigtownshire - voted by a panel of 19 travel experts and travel writers such as e.g. Tony Wheeler founder of Lonely Planet and author of The Lonely Planet Story, and e.g. Alain de Botton philosopher and author of The Art of Travel, e.g. Clive Aslet editor-at-large Country Life magazine (in the up-market British Airways in-flight magazine "BA High Life", issue November 2008):
Wigtownshire - one of "The 50 Most Authentic Places on Earth".
We'll help you to find these authentic places - it's here all around us. It is a different pace of life in Wigtownshire. We don't have amusement parks. But plenty of nature and beauty. Perfect to recharge your batteries: feel reborn: you can breathe again. Visit St Ninian's Cave at the sea shore . . . a short drive by car . . . a walk through Physgill Glen . . . "St Ninian's Cave is so quiet and remote that visiting becomes a spiritual experience", according to those travel experts. - It's all here, waiting for you to make time and come . . . and relax. - Even the roads are quiet here; our busiest road the A75 "Euroroute" is quieter than any minor road in the Yorkshire Dales, for instance.
Authentic places still exist . . . and not far from you . . .
Wigtownshire in Galloway, Scotland.
