Wigtown on the Machars peninsula in Dumfries & Galloway is the perfect

- Birdwatching - "Autumnwatch" and especially "Springwatch" in Feb / March; most of the 6 species of geese on Winter migration in Dumfries & Galloway can be found in Wigtownshire, e.g.thousands of Pink-footed Geese and hundreds of Barnacle Geese from Arctic Svalbard, also Whooper Swans in the saltmarshes/merse at Wigtown. Ranger-led events in March.

It's wise to book your accommodation early (before programme is published end of July / early Aug 2011) if you want to make a holiday of it in combination with touring the area, sightseeing, walking, golf. - Historic Stately Homes: Dumfries House one of the previous family residences of the Marquess of Bute; or Drumlanrig Castle one of the family seats of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch and Queensberry

Guests’ rooms and owners' accommodation are in separate wings of the large, modern bungalow cottage, giving privacy to both guests and resident owners.
Asthma & Allergy sufferers: There are no animals on the premises. All floors are cleaned with water: hardwood floors in bedroom and sitting room (both with rugs). If you wish, rugs in the bedroom can be removed before your arrival; they are made of wool, cotton, man-made fibres. The porch has a fitted dirt trapping dust-buster carpet. Beds are made up with 100% cotton bedding. Duvets & pillows are made of man-made fibres. Please advise if you are allergic to feathers as the feather-filled chair cushion is then removed before your arrival.
Unwind after arrival - with complimentary 'Afternoon Tea':
a piece of homebaking and a refreshing pot of "fair trade" tea, served in our antique Scottish Silver Tea Pot !
(tea/coffee making facilities - fair trade - are also in the master suite)
